Whitewater Region is a township located in eastern Ontario on the Ottawa River in Renfrew County. Whitewater Region is comprised of the previous regions of Beachburg, Cobden, Ross and Westmeath, which were amalgamated into the township on January 1, 2001.
Whitewater Region is named after the stretch of world-renowned whitewater on the Ottawa River, well known for boating, rafting and kayaking.
Explorer Samuel de Champlain's astrolabe, bearing the date 1613 was found inside the township. A landmark recognizing this memorable site is found outside Cobden on Highway 17.
